Mehmet Ağa, Osmanlı tarihinde görev yapmış ilk Habeş asıllı haremağasıdır. Hakkında pek fazla bilgi yoktur. Hayırseverliğiyle bilinir. Mehmed Ağa Camii’nin doğu avlu kapısı üzerindeki Asârîmahlâslı şâirin on altı mısralık kitâbesine göre yapı H.993 (1585)’te inşa edilmiştir. Yine kitabeye göre III. Murad devrinde Dârüssaâde ağası olan Habeşî Mehmed Ağa tarafından Mimar Sinan’ın çıraklarından Hassa Mimarı Davud Ağa’ya yaptırılmıştır. 16 mısralık kitabenin son dört mısrasında şu ifadeler yazılıdır: “Oldu mimarı Kamil Davud / Yaptı caniyle dercedüp san’at / Dedi Asârî tarihin hatif / Beyti Hadi ve Camii-i ümmet”

Mehmed Ağa Türbesi Mezarlık Mehmed Ağa Türbesi Mehmed Ağa Camii avlusundadır. Osmanlı Devleti'nde görev yapmış çok sayıda insan kendi gelirleri ile hayır kurumları yaptırdı, vakıflar kurdu. Çarşamba’da cami, medrese, tekke, hamam ve çeşmelerin bulunduğu külliye, buradaki külliye Darüs Saade ağası Mehmed Ağa’nın hayratıdır.
