Osmanlı zamanında Hızır A.s'ın ikindi namazında Yeni Camii'nde cemaatle namaz kıldığına inanılırmış. Bir gün bir kadın da Hızır a.s 'ı görmek için kocasından izin alıp caminin önüne gitmiş. İkindi bitmiş , akşam olmuş, kadın hala bekliyormuş. Bir yaşlı adam yanına gelip ne bekliyorsun kızım demiş. Kadın da durumu anlatmış, Hızır as'ı görmek için bekliyorum. "İyi de kızım, sen onu nasıl tanıyacaksın ki" demiş adam. Kadın "Aaa doğru ya nasıl tanıyacağım " diye cevap vermiş. Adam demiş ki, "Bak kızım, Hızır geldiğinde şu gördüğün minaredeki kandiller işte böyle sönüp yanar, sönüp yanar" demiş. Gösterirken de kandiller sönüp sönüp yanmış.. Kadın eve gitmiş. Kocası karşılamış dalga geçercesine :"Noldu hanım, gördün mü Hızır'ı?" Kadın cevap vermiş : "Görmedim ama nasıl tanıyacağımı öğrendim."
