Most of the museums serving in our country were established and put into service by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. ETİ Archeology Museum is the first museum project implemented by the private sector in Turkey.
ETİ Archeology Museum
The construction of the museum was completed in 2010 and the administrative building was put into service without wasting time. The museum is established on an area of approximately 1300 square meters. The museum building consists of three blocks and has a total usage area of 4000 square meters.
The basement of the administrative block is used as a laboratory and photography room. The ground floor is the section reserved only for the cafeteria. The 1st and 2nd floors of the building serve as the library and administrative section.
Our cultural assets are exhibited in the garden part of the museum. The ground floor of Block B is generally designed to be used as a multi-purpose hall for events such as conferences or exhibitions. There is a semi-open display and temporary exhibition hall on the ground floor of Block C. The basement floors of both blocks B and C are used as warehouses. The first floors of both blocks are areas where archaeological artifacts are exhibited.
Carefully Preserved Cultural Assets
There are movable and immovable cultural assets in Eskişehir province and its surroundings that have survived to the present day from societies that lived in ancient times. These assets, obtained as a result of the research, were first exhibited in Eskişehir Alaeddin Mosque in 1945. The artifacts are delivered to people through the warehouse museum established here.
In 1966, Eskişehir Museum Directorate was officially established in the Kurşunlu Mosque Complex located in the Odunpazarı district. In the same period, the directorate begins its exhibition and services. In 1974, the directorate moved to Atatürk Boulevard in Akarbaşı District and continued its work there.
It was decided to start restoration work to make the museum inadequate and to make it suitable for today, and the museum was closed to visitors in 2001. With the protocol signed between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Board of Directors of ETİ Group of Companies on February 28, 2007, the sponsorship of the museum construction was undertaken by ETİ Group of Companies.
In 2011, after the completion of the works, the museum was officially opened by the President and was named ETİ Archeology Museum. All of the artifacts obtained during the excavations carried out in Eskişehir are exhibited in this museum.
